HRD Logbook is currently not what we recommend for contesting, we recommend that a contest is run with custom contesting software, then after the contest is over, import the contest ADIF information to HRD log.
Our next HRD release will allow some contesting software to update the HRD logbook automatically using UDP.
We recommend the TR4W contesting software that is available from http://tr4w.net/
