Maybe it's the digitally-generated nature of the FT450D's audio, or it could be the narrow 10KHz roofing filter, but the radio has an unusually brilliant readability, making it sound piercingly sharp and thin, like a shrill little tin robot. I can easily decipher signals on the FT450D that sound woolly, and indistinct on other radios. But it sure ain't nice to listen-to! At times it's so sharp that it almost hurts my eardrums.
