The Medium Gain Antenna (MGA) which provides communication during interplanetary cruise will than be no longer available after cruise stage separation. Instead a backshell-mounted Tilted Low Gain Antenna (TLGA) provides spacecraft-to-Earth downlink during EDL, but it's signal will be too weak for Bochum. MRO will receive telemetry from the lander and then relay it to NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN) antennas on Earth. Rover Touchdown is expected at 20:55​, UTC.
