Witam.

Dlaczego nie kupie TS890-tki.

N4MRN napisal : ,,Beware of problems with the internal anternna tuner''

This was to be my dream rig. It took a lot for me to convince myself to spend $3,300 on a radio.

It worked great for the first 3 days, now the antenna tuner won't work on 1.8, 3.5, and 7 Mhz. When you hit the AT button on any of those 3 bands, the relays clack away for 20 seconds, and then errors out, but continues until the antenna tuner attempt times out at 60 seconds and shuts off leaving SWR at infinity.

This happens on ANT 1, or ANT 2, and/or when on a dummy load even. The antenna tuner works on the other bands.

The antenna tuner is comprised of 46 miniature relays, half which are made in China, and the other half made in Thailand.

I've been in the electronics, and electronics repair and "electro-mechanical" repair business for a long-long time, and I know all too well about the problems/reliability of "relays".

Think about it: with all of the "eoooh's" and "ahhh's" of all of the features like touch-screen, and waterfalls, etc., we're basically at the mercy of 46 non-replaceable Chinese and Thailand mechanical miniature relays soldered down on the giant, main RF board with the finals, etc.

That puts us right back in the 70's as far as reliability, and durability. The advent of the microcontroller was supposed to RID the world of unreliable electro-"mechanical" components (such as cheap mechanical "relays").

UPDATE: (11/20):
HRO made good on sending a replacement radio, and so far it's been rock solid (fingers crossed).

Earlier I said that the CW decode feature wasn't all that hot, but on this new replacement radio, it's actually not too bad at all.

So I've upgraded my rating to "good".

Pozdrawiam,Jozek -SP6FPH.
